BELGRADE (Serbia), June 22 (SeeNews) – The Swiss government plans to provide financing worth 100 million francs ($101 million/86.8 million euro) for projects supporting Serbia’s economic growth in the period 2018-2021, a Serbian government official said on Friday.
The financing will support innovations and employment in Serbia, Nenad Popovic, minister without portfolio in charge of innovation, said during a meeting with Swiss education minister Johann Schneider-Ammann on Friday, according to a Serbian government press release.
Serbia wishes to achieve even stronger cooperation with Switzerland, which involves the exchange of experts and knowledge, as well as joint projects in research, digitisation and development of new technologies, Popovic said.
A total of 570 Swiss companies are currently active in Serbia with a combined workforce of about 11,000 employees, Schneider-Ammann said.
Earlier this month, the Swiss-Serbian Chamber of Commerce (SSCC) said that 90% of its members were satisfied with the business climate in Serbia in 2018, quoting the results of a recent survey.
