The first test runs of the trains on the Belgrade-Novi Sad high-speed rail line are expected to begin at the end of this year whereas passenger service will be taken up from February next year.

Ambassador Schmid congratulated the signing parties for the procurement of what will be the technologically most advanced trains in the whole region. He added that it is quite symbolic that this procurement happens exactly 20 years since the donation of trams by the Swiss city of Basel to Belgrade which shows the degree of transformation and development that Serbia has achieved in this short period of time.
