Nestle Adriatic on Friday marked the completion of the first stage of the construction of a plant-based meals factory in Surcin

At a ceremony also attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Nestle Adriatic on Friday marked the completion of the first stage of the construction of a plant-based meals factory in Surcin, a suburban municipality of Belgrade.

The 23,000 sq m factory will create over 300 jobs.

It is an addition to an existing distribution center within Nestle’s industrial complex in Surcin.

It will produce four product types – steaks, medallions, breasts and fillets made of soy, gluten, rapeseed oil, yeast extracts, flour, vinegar and water with added flavors.

During a tour of the factory, Nestle executives told Vucic the company had already invested 20 mln euros in the project.

The new facility will have production, freezing and packaging units.

The initial investment is worth 58 mln Swiss francs, with around 300 mln Swiss francs to be invested over the next five years.
