SSCC visit to the School of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade

On November 30th, 2021, SSCC had an honor to visit the “Digital Drive Control laboratory” at the School of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade.

SSCC members were welcomed by the Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade, prof. dr Milo Tomašević.

The presentation about the Faculty was held by prof. dr Kosta Jovanović, Vice-dean for cooperation with companies. Then, the projects and activities of the H-bridges team were described by Ms. Emilija Lukić – H-Bridges team leader and Mr Aleksandar Milić, Assistent Professor and team mentor.

Each year, students who are members of the Digital Drive Control laboratory, work on developing software and hardware solutions in the field of electric vehicles and renewable energy sources. These solutions are then presented at the international competition regarding technical innovation and energy efficiency – IEEE International Future Energy Challenge.

The main objective of the competition is to encourage engineering mindset and innovation in the area of power electronics as well as to uphold healthy rivalry between the world’s most outstanding Universities. So far, the team has placed among the top four teams each year they have participated and achieved the two 1st placements – from 2005 and 2019.

This year, the competition topic is renewable energy sources, with the main task being to develop an inverter for a mini solar plant. This plant is going to be integrated within the existing power grid. More about the project can be found on the official website: https://h-bridges.etf.bg.ac.rs/.

After the discussion about H-bridges impressive results as well as challenges this team is facing, SSCC members visited the laboratories where they were welcomed by H-bridges team members.
